Week 18

This week on Elder Silva's mission, we had a baptism! His name is Fernando Hernandez and it was amazing he is 70 years old and we decided to have one of the youth do the baptism because he is preparing to go on a mission. I thought it would be nice for him to do it and have that experience. We also had a goal to do at least 5 effective contacts each day but we only had 20 the whole week. They told us that we did the most in our whole district so I didn't feel too bad. But we made a lot of new investigators so that was nice :)

Week 15

This week on Elder Silva's mission, I almost got my hand bit off! But it was for a good purpose lol. So my companion and I were walking and there's this house which we always pass. There is a dog there that barks at us and is very aggressive. Yesterday we were passing by and we saw the dog but it was on a leash and it got on top of the counter on a table and it got it self tangled on the rails. If the dog was to fall or slip from the counter he would have hanged and choked itself. I tried to help the dog but every time I got close to it it would growl at me and try to bite me. So I used a Book of Mormon to block his face but he still almost bit my hand. My companion told me to forget about it and wanted to leave. We did but as we were walking I looked back and I felt bad for the dog and I asked my companion to return.
We did and this time I tried to be more loving and tried petting his back. Finally after like 10 min the dog calmed down a little and I started to pet his head. He trusted me and didn't try to bit me and then when I picked him up the owners came running. They were saying thank you and offered us to come in and asked us if the dog had bitten us because the dog doesn't let anyone touch it. I told them we were ok but it took a long time for the dog to trust us. So we did a little animal saving that day!
