Week 6

This week on Elder Silva's mission, it awesome because it was Christmas!!!! :D So first, over herein Mexico they celebrate the 24th more than they do the 25th. I don't know why but that's the culture here lol. So on the 24th a member took us out to eat at Bostons gourmet pizza and it was so good. Afterwords she gave us each a present, she gave us each a sick purple tie :) Then between 3 and 9 at night, we went to the Temple to contact people and show them the "He Is The Gift" video. It was raining and cold, both of us were a little cold but we it was fine.
On the 25th we got to talk to our family's on Skype. :D Since this week was Christmas, not that many people wanted to listen to us because they are were getting ready for party's and stuff. I also had the chance to see and listen to some sick and real life mariachis!!!!!! lol  The new year is coming up and they say that it gets 100 times more crazy and that we might not be able to go out and work because it can be a little dangerous. Hopefully we can teach more people :)

Week 4

So this week I got super sick, I woke up at 4:30am and started throwing up like crazy. I couldn't sleep and I thought I was going to die, (not exaggerating) it finally stopped around 10:30am. On the bright side I had a baptism the same day but I didn't think I was going to be able to do it. I prayed and then felt like everything was going to be fine and that this was just a test of my faith.
I was able to baptize Juan Manuel Garcia Ramos :) He is a 42 year old man with two parents who happen to be priests in another church. Every time that we would visit him, they would yell at us, so we had to teach him at the church. He knew  what he was doing was the right thing. He also loves music a lot! The best part was that when I finally baptized him, he started to cry. He told me that he felt happy and at peace, at that moment I felt very grateful for the opportunity baptize Juan Manuel. I hope that he will continue enduring to the end on the right path :)
I also had the honor to eat some crickets, it was the nastiest thing ever. But I had to do what I had to do; which was eat them XP We also had the chance to contact more people and teach them :) I also had the chance to see the ultrasound of a member who we are close with. She is four months pregnant and she is expecting a baby boy :D

Week 3

This week was really interesting, we found a new investigator that is really interested. So the way we found him was on the street and he was starring at us so we just went up to talk with him. He was with his brother and he said that we can pass by the next day. So we did but we couldn't find his house so we called him and he explained where he lived. So we got to a house that we though was his and there was a lady and she was really rude to us and told us to leave and that they didn't want anything to do with us. So my companion and i left and we were depressed but 5 min later we got a call and it was the guy. He was yelling at us asking where we were and that he was waiting for us. So we told him about the lady and he said that that lady was crazy and he told us to come back. So we did and when we go there it was the wrong house and there was a guy there that told us to follow him, so we did and.
I was kinda scared cause we never talked to this guy and he took us upstairs and there was the guy we contacted and he brought his whole family. They were just sitting there just waiting for us to teach them. So we taught them the first lesson but the guys mom was there and she was saying that our church is false and that we don't believe in Jesus. The guy then told her everything that we taught her and he even explained the first vision and she was speechless. So my companion and I looked at each other and smiled, were very surprised. He said that he would like to get baptized and that he also had a very sick son and that he made a promise to God to stop drinking.

This is Heysi Lopez Velasquez and she's 6 years old she also has blood cancer. The way we found her was by a random member that saw us and asked us if we can give her friends daughter a blessing.  The little girl and her family aren't members. So it was really intense but I know that the best thing that my companion and I could do is give her a blessing. So we did while she was sleeping but then she woke up. She was really shy at first but we became good friends and she turned out to be the nicest girl. I hope the best for her :) Now her family wants us to learn more about Jesus so its going to be really exciting!!!

Week 2

I'm finally here in Villahermosa and I'm currently serving in the main city.  It's really hot but I'm getting used to it lol. My trainer is Elder Urbina, he is from Arizona and he likes to play basketball so we are getting along really well lol. So my first Sunday I was asked to give a 15 min talk, 5 mins before church started. I was nervous but my companion told me I did good. We actually almost had our mission area closed because we decided to help a recent convert who had some people want to kill him. They didn't and we are safe because we got god on our side. Currently have four baptisms set, they just need to follow through, hopefully they do. My thanksgiving was good, my companion and I just ate a lot of tacos lol.

Week 1

The MTC is the bomb, there is so much food that every time I go eat I'm full, because they feed us every time. The Elders that I live in building 14M are Elder Valdez who is my companion from Texas. He is going to Mexico, Elder Garcia from Kansas is going to Honduras and Elder Solano from California is going to Mexico. There are 2 other Elders that live next to our room that are awesome and they are Elder Davis from Utah who is going to Mexico and Elder Henderson who is from North Carolina and is also going to Mexico. The Spirit is so strong here and we are reading like 9 hrs a day, it’s crazy!!!!
Elder Davis and I had the craziest teaching on the Train Saturday we were teaching a homeless couple on the train and the wife was Mormon but the husband wasn't so I was talking to him and he said that he wanted to get baptized but only to a church that he knew was real. When I was talking to him about the church he seemed really interested and while I was talking to him he took off his right glove off his hand. He then spat in his hand and wiped it on his pants and put his glove back on. Then me and Elder Davis just paused and looked at each other and looked confused. It was the funniest thing afterwards but they had to leave on the next stop so we didn't talk much after that. I also sprained my ankle playing basketball at the MTC. So yeah I had a blast these past days but I depart to Mexico on the 24th. I can’t wait for that and go and do the real deal/mission field.
